Fixed Annuities and Indexed Annuities
For our clients that don't want to take risk with all or a portion of their money, we offer fixed and indexed annuities. Many fixed and indexed annuities offer a guaranteed lifetime income stream that cannot be outlived. Fixed and Indexed annuities offer safety of principal as well as safety with regard to any interest earned.
- Fixed annuities offer a stated interest rate for a fixed period of time.
- Indexed annuities earn interest based on the performance of an index used within the annuity contract. Money is not invested in any index; interest credits are based on index performance during a given time frame.
Fixed and indexed annuities have contract limitations and charges for optional benefits. Most annuities have surrender fees that are usually highest if you take out the money in the initial years of the annuity contact. Withdrawals and income payments are taxed as ordinary income. If a withdrawal is made prior to age 59½, a 10% federal income tax penalty may apply (unless an exception applies). The guarantees of an annuity contract depend on the issuing company’s claims-paying ability. Annuities are not guaranteed by the FDIC or any other government agency.
